A course designed to provide individuals with the knowledge and practical skills to access and work on rooftops safely using a variety of Personal Fall Protection Equipment.  Common rooftop hazards are also identified and ways to mitigate the dangers identified.

The course can be conducted on your site if the facilities and structure are suitable, or at the HART training centre in Kent.

Course Aims

This course will give participants the skills and knowledge to safely access and work on rooftops.

Certificate Validity: 3 year

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, delegates will be able to:

  • Understand the relevant Legislation & Guidance
  • Understand & explain the risks associated with roof environments & control measures
  • Understand & explain rooftop safety & access procedures
  • Understand & explain the use of PPE for rooftop access and work– inclusive of types, care and maintenance, inspection regimes
  • Demonstrate access & work methods for rooftops:
    • Restraint methods
    • Fall Arrest methods
    • Work Positioning methods
  • Understand the importance of emergency and rescue plans & explain their elements – including First Aid requirements, getting help, reporting of incidents & accidents
  • Understand & explain the dangers of Radio Frequency – what it is, types and effects

 

Important Delegate Information

Health

All personnel participating in Safety Training shall be medically fit and capable of fully participating. Delegates will be required to sign a statement stating that they are medically fit to participate in the safety training and that they do not suffer from any medical illness or are under influence of any narcotic substance or alcohol.
