Our GWO Sea Survival Refresher course is carried out at our training facility in Kent in the South East of the UK, fully accredited by the Global Wind Organization as one of the 5 modules of the Basic Safety Training Standard (BST)and taught by expert instructors with experience in the industry.
Current valid certificate must be shown on arrival of the course booking to be eligible for a refresher course.

This BSTR Sea Survival Module is to review and build on previously gained knowledge and skills through open questions and practical training. Delegates shall be able to act safely and take the correct preventive actions in all aspects of offshore operations from shore to installation vessel or WTG, and vice versa, both during normal operation and in an emergency in an offshore wind turbine environment

The Maritime Skills Academy offers complete training management. These world-class centres with state-of-the-art facilities support delegates from around the world.
This BSTR Sea Survival Module shall ensure that the delegates are able to demonstrate:
Knowledge of dangers and symptoms related to hypothermia and drowning
Understanding of the advantages and limitations of the different Life Saving Appliances (LSA), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Personal Fall Protection Equipment (PPE) commonly used offshore in the wind energy industry and are able to don and use them accordingly
Knowledge of risks related to transfers (dynamic/static – static/dynamic)
Safe transfer from vessel to dock, vessel to foundation
Knowledge of the emergency and safety procedures on installations, vessels and WTGs
The Recovery and First Aid treatment of a “man over board”
Evacuation from the mock WTG to the water by using a rescue device
Individual and collective survival techniques at sea.
All personnel participating in GWO Basic Safety Training shall be medically fit and capable of fully participating. Delegates will be required to sign a statement stating that they are medically fit to participate in the safety training and that they do not suffer from any medical illness or are under influence of any narcotic substance or alcohol.

The Global Wind Organisation is an association of Wind Turbine owners and manufacturers with the aim of supporting an injury-free work environment in the wind industry. In response to the demand for recognisable Basic Safety Training (BST) in the industry the members of the GWO have developed a safety standard. The standard ensures that the work of any certified Training Provider is competent and proficient. To obtain GWO approval, organizations are subject to an in-depth audit process performed by an accredited Certification Body.
