Train the Trainer : Theory

This in-depth syllabus gives the trainee all the information and insight into work at height scenarios to enable them to effectively deliver a bespoke work at height training course to their employees.

To ensure that the candidate is capable of delivering the practical and theory in a concise, clear and safe manner to internal staff only.


Day 1: Managing Work at Height

Day 2: Inspection of PFPE and designing PowerPoint® presentations

Day 3: Practical and theory to be delivered by the trainee to the trainer.

On completion of this course, personnel will be able to deliver a theoretical training session on work at height. The following points would be included:

  • The effects of gravity and its consequences
  • Legislation and guidance with regards to working at height and fall protection equipment
  • Hazards and risks associated with working at heights
  • The need for a rescue plan if appropriate
  • Pre-use inspection of work at height equipment (harness/lanyard)
  • Correct donning of a full body harness
  • Anchorage principles.


Trainees will be given course notes in PDF form including HSE and Industry Guidance Notes and ACOPs.


An audit is usually required to be carried out by the principal trainer during the delegate’s  first training session – to be arranged for the last day of the Train the Trainer course.


On successful completion of the course all trainees will be issued with a Certificate (to be posted).

This course utilises a powerpoint presentation, interspersed with videos, graphics and images. Actual products are also used.
