Training Aimed at: Everyone who works at height
Course Duration: 1 day (6.5 hours)
Instructor to Trainee ratio: 1 : 8 (max)
Course Entry Criteria: Physical fitness
Most people are only concerned with preventing / arresting a fall and pay little or no thought on how to get the victim down in a safe manner afterwards. It was previously stated that the maximum period a victim should hang suspended in a harness was 20 minutes, but due to a potentially fatal medical phenomenon called suspension trauma (orthostatic intolerance), this timeframe no longer applies. Rescue must take place as soon as possible.

On completion of the Height Safety Rescue Course, trainees will be given course notes in PDF form, including HSE & industry guidance notes and ACOPs.
An assessment will be given at the end of the course by the height safety trainer. Written assessment pass rate is 70% or above. Practical assessment carried out by trainer.
On completion of the course all trainees will be issued with a certificate which shows they are competent carrying out rescue at height.
