RESCUE AT HEIGHT TRAINING

Training Aimed at: Everyone who works at height
Course Duration: 1 day (6.5 hours)
Instructor to Trainee ratio: 1 : 8 (max)
Course Entry Criteria: Physical fitness

 

Most people are only concerned with preventing / arresting a fall and pay little or no thought on how to get the victim down in a safe manner afterwards. It was previously stated that the maximum period a victim should hang suspended in a harness was 20 minutes, but due to a potentially fatal medical phenomenon called suspension trauma (orthostatic intolerance), this timeframe no longer applies. Rescue must take place as soon as possible.

 

HART is able to train on various rescue kits, including:

COURSE AIMS:

• • To ensure that personnel are aware of the legal and best practice requirements when using fall protection equipment, and are aware of their responsibilities
• • To equip trainees with a base theoretical knowledge to effectively identify the main hazards associated with work at height and therefore understand ways to reduce the risks
• • To equip personnel with in-depth product knowledge on specified rescue equipment, and to be able to affect a mock rescue correctly and in complete safety

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

On completion of this course, personnel should be able to:

• • Carry out a mock rescue (practical) correctly and in complete safety
• • Everything from HART’s Basic Work at Height course

HANDOUTS

On completion of the Height Safety Rescue Course, trainees will be given course notes in PDF form, including HSE & industry guidance notes and ACOPs.

ASSESSMENTS

An assessment will be given at the end of the course by the height safety trainer. Written assessment pass rate is 70% or above. Practical assessment carried out by trainer.

CERTIFICATION

On completion of the course all trainees will be issued with a certificate which shows they are competent carrying out rescue at height.

THE COURSE UTILISES A POWERPOINT PRESENTATION, INTERSPERSED WITH VIDEOS, GRAPHICS, IMAGES AND CLIP ART – ACTUAL PRODUCTS ARE USED TO ILLUSTRATE POINTS
