Training aimed at: Anyone responsible for the periodic inspection of harnesses and lanyards
Course Duration: 1 day (6.5 hours)
Instructor to Trainee ratio: 1 : 8 (max)
Course Entry Criteria: NONE
The competent person course follows the same basic syllabus as Level 1 and delves into more detail on the subject of periodic inspection. This one-day course places a lot of emphasis on ‘hands-on’ training. You will be covering formal and periodic inspection of harnesses, lanyards (both webbing and rope), and inertia-type fall arrest devices.
Delegates will learn how to carry out and correctly document detailed inspections of standard items of fall protection equipment, through an assessed practical exercise.
On completion of this course, personnel will be able to:
On completion of this course trainees will be given course notes in PDF form including HSE & Industry Guidance Notes and ACOPs.
A written assessment will be given at the end of the course by the height safety trainer. Written pass rate 70% +, practical pass rate 90%.
On successful completion of the course all trainees will be issued with a certificate (to be posted).
